Nineteen years ago when I started down my path into photography one of my favorite places to go was Coopers Rock, WV. I have been waiting for a snowy day to capture a few Ideas I had. So I packed up my gear and prepared for the elements. I'm glad I over-prepared and had all my cold weather hiking gear with me because the the park was CLOSED! I had a choice, I could either go home or take on the 7+ mile round trip to the top in some of the coldest weather I've hiked through this winter. Looking back, it was totally worth it! A great adventure! I live locally to coopers rock and have similarly found the gate to be locked. But this February I went on the off chance and the road is open. Got some great snow images. I’ve no idea if this is a new policy, but worth bearing in mind!
