EQUIPMENT I USE AND INFO ON CHOOSING YOUR NEXT CAMERA
Why did I make this page? As a professional photographer I am asked almost daily what kind of equipment people should buy. Creating this resource page makes this more efficient and easier on both of us.
Why am I using Amazon? Amazon often has the best price and the best return policy. Plus, when you order from this page we get a very small percentage of the sale to help maintain this resource page.

CAMERAS I USE 2019
DSLR FOR PORTRAITS & WEDDINGS:
The Nikon D750 is my main camera for portraits, weddings and some commercial projects. The low light capabilities, dual card slots, shadow detail, weather sealing, and fast focusing make this an excellent choice for a working photographer.

NIKON LENSES
FAVORITE FULL FRAME PORTRAIT LENSES (NIKON)
Here are the lenses I use for different types of portraits. The 50mm is great for photographing kids. The 85mm 1.4g is my absolute favorite lens for high school seniors, weddings, and engagement sessions. The 24-70mm is great for quick group shots on wedding days. The the 70-200mm is a versatile lens that I use for engagement sessions, head shots, weddings and anytime I need more reach.

OTHER NIKON FULL FRAME LENSES I OFTEN USE
The Nikon 35mm 1.4G is a very impressive lens for the right situation. I mainly use this lens for low light situations at weddings when capturing real candid moments. The Nikon 14-24mm is one of the sharpest lenses I have. Mainly used for commercial projects, real estate, and wide shots at weddings. The Nikon 105 Macro is used for detail shots like rings at weddings.

FAVORITE CROP SENSOR PORTRAIT LENS (NIKON)
If you are shooting with a consumer grade crop sensor camera like the Nikon 3000, 5000, or 7000 series there really is only one lens I recommend for learning portraits. Its the affordable and sharp Nikon 50mm 1.8G. Mounted on a crop sensor camera body this will give you the perfect focal length for portraits.
